BACKGROUND

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, musician Jonah Kagen approached Kylie with a question: how can I use this time to grow visibility around my music online? Initially, Jonah was simply looking for a few extra views on his unique finger-picking-style guitar videos, but with the creation and implementation of a social media strategy built to create a hyper-engaged fanbase, the results surpassed all expectations.

APPROACH

Together, Jonah and Kylie aligned on Jonah’s core goals for his efforts on social media and built a simple execution strategy to achieve them. Over the course of our first six months working together, Jonah and Kylie introduced his music to the world via “co-write with me” videos on TikTok. As a part of this effort, Jonah benefitted from several viral moments, especially around his single, “broken.”

RESULTS

“broken’s” honest, heartfelt lyrics connected with millions of TikTokers all over the world, earning him:

1. Explosive TikTok growth with over 275,000 TikTok followers added over the course of “broken’s” first 30 days (454,000 as of January 2023)

2. Over 4,000 “co-write” submissions

3. A Sony Music Entertainment record deal (Arista Records)

4. Tours supporting acts like Maisie Peters, Anson Seabra, Phillip Phillips + headline tours, festivals, and more

5. Over 2.5M monthly listeners on Spotify (+a Times Square feature on the Spotify New Music Friday board)

6. ~600k cross-platform social followers

7. The opportunity to live his dream as a full-time musician

Jonah continues to release music to a fan base that is overwhelmingly devoted to his success.
